• Feed your student with a healthy breakfast each morning.
• Make sure your student gets to school & classes on time. • Provide the required school supplies & a backpack. • Limit TV, video games, computer & internet to one hour Monday through Thursday. • Limit & monitor the use of cell phone for texting at home. • Provide a routine & a quiet area for homework. • Send your child to bed early. A teenager needs at least 9 hours of sleep each night. • Check your student's backpack regularly. • Know your child's friends & their parents. • Allow your student to stay physically active in sports or play at least 30 minutes daily. • Hug your child & let him/her know how much you love him or her daily. |
• Meet your child's teachers.
• Communicate with your child's teachers by phone, letter, e- mail, or in person regularly. • Schedule a conference at least 3 times per semester. • Check your student's agenda everyday. • Ask about homework assignments. If your child never has homework, this is a red flag. Talk to your childs teacher immediately. • Visit your student while he or she is in class at least once per semester • Find out your child's reading and math levels. • Provide the free LAUSD tutoring services (when available). • Take your child to the library often. • Monitor the use of the internet. • Monitor your student calls and phone texts often. |

• Conozca a los maestros de sus hijos.
• Comuníquese con los maestros por teléfono, carta, correo electrónico, o en persona frequentemente. • Programe una conferencia cuando menos 3 veces por semestre • Revise la agenda diariamente • Pregunte sobre la tarea. Si su hijo nunca tiene tarea, eso es mala señal. Comuníquese con el maestro inmediatamente. • Visite la clase de su hijo/a cuando menos una vez por semestre. • Investigue el nivel de su estudiante en lectura y matemáticas. • Provea los servicios de tutoria gratis del distrito (cuando sean disponibles). • Lleve a su hijo a la biblioteca a menudo. • Vigile y controle el uso del internet de su hijo. • Vigile las llamadas y textos por teléfono de su hijo/a a menudo. |
